The Cocaine Bear memes are already flowing as the hype train gathers momentum

Cocaine Bear drops tomorrow, and the internet is absolutely addicted; the mere existence of this film was already a meme in its own right, so the urge to subject it to the online sphere’s favorite form of lampooning probably hasn’t been as strong as it could have been.

But, with early reactions to the self-explanatory dark comedy now plastered all over the internet, Cocaine Bear fans are making up for lost time, particularly in the form of the hashtag “#CocaineBearIsGreatBut,” and the resulting satirical grievances are everything.

Specifically, Twitter took a liking to giving shoutouts to other drug-pumped mammals who weren’t quite able to reach the spotlight, among them the wildly expressive Opium Possum, the justice-driven Drug Counselor Cat, and the thunder-stealing Cocaine Cobra.

Others rejected the hashtag entirely, adamant that when it comes to Cocaine Bear, there’s no room for buts.

Of course, Cocaine Bear won’t be without its controversies; after all, the film required that its star, the bear, congest copious amounts of cocaine for the role, so it will probably want to call up its lawyer about this one. For what it’s worth, this bear certainly put Jared Leto’s method acting to shame, and it probably wasn’t even a jerk about it.

And somehow, someway, the internet managed to sneak in an actual “but” into the swarm of would-be movie stars and general nonsense, but we have to admit; it’s not the worst idea in the world.

#CocaineBearIsGreatBut it really should've been an animated movie instead.

just sayin'.

Whatever form it takes, fuel for the Cocaine Bear fire will be at its ripest today and tomorrow, when we all get to see just what this bear gets up to. Good luck, Margo Martindale and co., for director Elizabeth Banks is about to unleash cinema’s true heir to a Thanos-level threat upon you.

Cocaine Bear will release to theaters on Feb. 24.
