Biography of Ian Hecox

Ian Andrew Hecox was born on November 30, 1987, in Fair Oaks, California, USA. Although there is not much information about his childhood and family, his mother Sharon Hecox and his unknown father occasionally appeared in his videos.

Hecox has a sister named Melissa and a brother named Adrian. He met his close friend Anthony Padilla in sixth grade at Del Campo High School in California. After graduating from high school, they both enrolled at American River College in Sacramento.

In 2002, Padilla created a website called smosh.com which Hecox later joined him on. They created a YouTube channel titled ‘Smosh’ in 2005, only five months after YouTube’s launch.

The channel began with funny videos of themselves and rapidly grew in popularity, earning several awards for having one of the highest number of subscriptions. Although the content of ‘Smosh’ changed over the years, it always aimed to make its viewers laugh and have fun.
